A:
Metal cylinder; painted white
Thick wall; hollow for insulation
Inside diameter: 10.2"
Many rust spots
Top lip rounded with ridge around bottom and around bottom of container
Under maker's mark is a short tap witha push valve for dispensing water
Paint is peeling off bottom
Inside unfinished; silver-grey in colour

B:
Round with spherical top and circular contours
Shiny metal know-type handle on top
Top spotted with rust and green paint
Hollow for insullation purposes
Diameter: 10.5"
Loose material inside

School drinking water fountain . Used to store and dispense water prior to installation of indoor plumbing or indoor water source. To fill fountain, water would have been carried in from an outdoor well or, occasionally, a nearby stream.
