First Nations:

In this 1 hour you will be exposed to what life was like for the First Nations people here in Canada over 700 years ago.  Can you imagine life without a steel knife blade or axes?  How would you cook without metal pots and pans?  What did the First Nations people eat and just who are the “Three Sisters”?  Your Interpreter herself will be wearing a traditional Chippewa dress with original glass beads.  You will also see weapons and tools of the time period.

Fur Trade:

Let’s take a look into the daily routine of a Canadian Voyageur.  Your Interpreter arrives in costume along with an original Voyageur’s cassette.  You will be taken through its contents and see many original items.  Everyone will receive one article of “try-on” clothing.  Then each participant will be placed into one of three canoes marked out on the floor.  The journey begins by re-enacting a mock portage.  This program truly makes Canadian History come to life.

Program Duration: 1 hour

Cost:  $175.00

Pioneer:

Your Interpreter arrives on sight in a period costume typical of the 1860’s carrying an emigrant’s trunk.  In the next hour the trunk is opened and the audience begins to explore its contents.  Learn why this trunk is so important and why they packed what they did.  There will also be clothing for the smaller children to try on.

Artifact ID:

This program is fun for all ages, young and old alike.  The trunk is filled with a large variety of pioneer tools and accessories that have lost their use by being replaced with modern methods.  Do you know what a sugar nipper looks like or how and why it was so important?  Do you know what a pioneer rat trap looked like?  Just how many items can you identify?  There is a lot to learn and see with this program.

Cost:  $175.00

The General Store:

Oh yes, the romantic days of the Country General Store.  Along with the Blacksmith, the General Store was the heart of the community and the major gathering place.  The Storekeeper had much more to do than stock shelves.  This program contains packaging from cracker boxes to pan repair kits to medicine bottles.  You will learn lots of interesting facts about the General Store that have long been forgotten.
